Bandits kill village head, abduct 15 in Niger

Unknown gunmen have allegedly killed the village head of Zagzaga neighborhood, Mallam Usman Tukura, in Munya Local Government Area of Niger State and kidnapped no fewer than 15 folks.

The incident occurred on Tuesday night time in the neighborhood.

The bandits who stormed the village in giant numbers unleashed terror on residents for about two hours uninterrupted, Media Talk Africa learnt.

A youth chief from the neighborhood, Yahuza Mohammed, when contacted, stated the assault was the fifth in the final 4 months, including that the bandits invaded the village when the folks had retired into their houses at about 11 pm.

Mohammed said that the village head met his premature dying when he got here out of his home to beg the gunmen to go away the folks alone as they opened hearth on him and he died on the spot.

He defined that the bandits raided the neighborhood, shifting from home to accommodate (with out the same old sporadic capturing into the air to scare the folks), woke them up, and stole their cash and different belongings.

Mohammed additional said that almost all of these kidnapped had been ladies and kids from the neighborhood.

According to him: “Before attacking the people, the bandits had broken into shops and stole various items before attacking the residents of the village. They killed our leader and carried 15 away.”

Media Talk Africa recollects that two weeks in the past, about 30 folks from the neighbouring villages of Igu (*15*), Shapai, and Mangoro, all in Munya LGA, had been kidnapped. Three managed to flee, with the bandits asking for the sum of 1 million naira as ransom per head for the 27 folks in their captivity.

Media Talk Africa’s effort to achieve the chairman of the native authorities, Najume A. Aminu, to substantiate the assault has but to yield any consequence on the time of submitting this report.
