Ohanaeze Assures Igbo Muslims of Integration and Highlights Importance of Unity

The President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, has pledged to integrate Muslims of Igbo extraction into the apex socio-cultural group. This assurance was given during a courtesy visit by the executive members of the South East Muslim Elders Council (SEMEC) in Owerri.

During the visit, Chief Iwuanyanwu expressed concern over the prevailing ethnic and religious profiling against the Igbo people and called for peace and harmony among Nigerians. He emphasized that such profiling, if allowed to persist, could jeopardize the country’s future and democracy.

In his address, Chief Iwuanyanwu highlighted the commonalities shared by Muslims and Christians and emphasized that they worship the same God. He stated, “Today is a defining moment. I want you to know that from today on, the picture of Islam in Igboland has changed. I assure you that, under my leadership of the Igbo, you can be sure that you will be integrated into Ohanaeze Ndigbo.”

Chief Iwuanyanwu acknowledged the significant contributions of the Muslim community in Igboland towards its development and the overall peace in Nigeria. He emphasized the mutual interdependence of the Igbo people with other regions of the country, stating, “One thing is clear: the success of the Igbo requires the collaboration of other parts of this country. We cannot exist without them.”
