Electricity Consumers Set to Receive Refunds for Meter Payments

The Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) has announced that all electricity consumers who have paid for meters under the Metre Asset Provider (MAP) scheme will be refunded through credit tokens within a span of six months.

Customer Engagement Forum Ensures Transparency

The CEO of EKEDC, Tinuade Sanda, made this commitment during a recently held Customer Engagement Forum in Agbara, a suburb of Lagos. The forum was attended by customers from the Agbara business unit, which encompasses areas such as Agbara, Owode, Ijanikin, Ajara, and Badagry. Attendees also included customers from Ajido, Otto-Awori, Ketu, Pota, Avia, Oko-Afo, Aiyetoro, Seme, Ilogbo-Ereni, Era-Abule, Kwame, Aradagun, and lbereko.

A Shift Towards Metered Billing

At the event, Mr. Samuel Edoho, the General Manager of Commercial Revenue Cycle at EKEDC, represented Tinuade Sanda and advised customers to take advantage of the ongoing metering process to avoid receiving estimated bills. He emphasized that the acquisition of meters is the only way to address recurring complaints about overbilling and estimated billing.

Refunds for MAP Scheme Participants

Sanda further reassured customers by stating, “Customers who have paid through the MAP scheme will receive their refunds within a period of six months. EKEDC is currently conducting a massive metering exercise for customers who participated in the MAP scheme.”

Enhancing Service Delivery Through Customer Interaction

Explaining the purpose of the forum, Sanda noted that it provided an opportunity for EKEDC to engage with customers within their network and discuss strategies for improving service delivery. She emphasized that EKEDC is committed to leveraging cutting-edge technology to provide safe, sustainable, and reliable electricity supply, with the ultimate goal of improving the quality of life for all customers.
