The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has revealed that an initial deposit of N4.5 million is required for next year’s Hajj pilgrimage. This announcement was made by the director-general of the board, Laminu Rabi’u, during a media briefing to kickstart preparations for the 2024 Hajj exercise.
It has been agreed upon by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) that Kano State will be allocated 5,934 seats for the Hajj pilgrimage.
Of the total seats allocated, 60 percent will be reserved for conventional pilgrims, while the remaining 40 percent will be dedicated to participants of the Hajj Saving Scheme, which is being facilitated by Jaiz Bank. This initiative encourages individuals to save towards their Hajj journey.
During the media briefing, Mr. Rabi’u stated, “We have commenced the preparations for Hajj 2024 today. The sale of seats has already started, and we have allocated 60 percent of the seats to the 44 Local Government Areas of Kano State.”
He further added, “We have instructed our Local Government Centre Officers to begin collecting deposits from potential pilgrims.”
Mr. Rabi’u also assured that the board is taking strong measures to address and prevent the challenges encountered during the 2023 Hajj pilgrimage, ensuring a smoother and more efficient process for the pilgrims in 2024.
