Presidency Holds Nnamdi Kanu, Not Supreme Court – IPOB Lawyer, Ejimakor

Aloy Ejimakor, the Special Counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has revealed the individuals responsible for the prolonged detention of the agitator.

Ejimakor has alleged that it is the Presidency, and not the Supreme Court, that is holding Kanu captive.

He made this assertion while highlighting the inconsistency of the Federal Government’s actions in detaining Kanu despite the release of Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Igboho.

Speaking on X, Ejimakor further claimed that Yoruba leaders played a role in securing Igboho’s release.

According to Ejimakor: “The continued incarceration of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has become even more untenable in light of Sunday Igboho’s release, especially considering the support provided by Yoruba leaders and Tinubu. It is the Presidency, and not the Supreme Court, that is holding Nnamdi Kanu.”

Recently, Igboho was set free after spending two years in a Beninese prison. He had fled Nigeria following a declaration by the Department of State Services (DSS).

During the same time that Igboho was arrested, Kanu was also apprehended in Kenya and subjected to extraordinary rendition.

Kanu has remained in detention under the custody of the DSS as his trial continues since his return to Nigeria.
