Hezbollah deputy chief, Naim Qassem, delivered a resolute message on Friday, stating that the group will not respond to requests for neutrality in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. Speaking at a rally in southern Beirut, Qassem asserted that Hezbollah is fully prepared to contribute to the fighting.

Despite behind-the-scenes calls from influential powers, Arab nations, and United Nations envoys urging Hezbollah to remain uninvolved, Qassem remained steadfast, declaring that such efforts would have no impact on the group’s decision. “Hezbollah knows its duties perfectly well. We are prepared and ready, fully ready,” he emphasized.

Recent clashes between Hezbollah and Israel along the Lebanese border mark the deadliest confrontations since the 2006 month-long war. These incidents were triggered by cross-border rocket attacks and shelling, which followed Hamas’ assault on Israeli towns and the subsequent Israeli retaliatory bombings in the Gaza Strip.

However, sources suggest that Hezbollah has intentionally limited its actions, aiming to contain the conflict within a manageable scope and prevent a major spillover into Lebanon, while simultaneously keeping Israeli forces occupied.

Qassem stated that the crucial question on everyone’s minds is what Hezbollah’s contribution to the conflict will be. He assured supporters that the group has a well-thought-out plan and will actively participate when the time is right.

Hezbollah’s involvement in the Israel-Hamas conflict could have far-reaching implications. As tensions continue to escalate, the situation in the region remains highly volatile and unpredictable.
