Police Crackdown on “One Chance” Activities in FCT: 10 Vehicles Impounded

The Police Command in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, has taken a strong stance against the rising incidences of “one chance” activities in the territory. As a result, 10 vehicles suspected of being involved in these criminal activities have been impounded by the newly created ‘Anti-One Chance Squad’ of the command.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Haruna Garba, made this announcement during a media briefing held on Friday in Abuja. The impounded vehicles, most of which had tinted glasses, were searched and found to be carrying dangerous weapons such as axes, cutlasses, and knives – evidently intended for criminal purposes.

Investigations are currently underway, focusing on the three suspects apprehended in connection with the vehicle seizure. It is believed that these arrests will yield valuable information leading to the apprehension of other members involved in these criminal activities.

Additional Arrests Made for Armed Robbery and Kidnapping

In a separate incident, operatives from the Zuba Division of the command arrested three suspects on October 8 for their alleged involvement in armed robbery and kidnapping. The arrest was made following a distress call about suspicious activities around the Zuba fruit market.

Upon their arrival at the scene, the police swiftly apprehended one suspect who attempted to flee upon sighting the officers. Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to being a member of a 5-man gang and subsequently led the police to the arrest of two other gang members.

During the search of the suspects’ residences, two AK-47 rifles, two magazines, and 35 rounds of live ammunition were recovered. The arrested suspects are fully cooperating with the police in their efforts to bring the remaining gang members to justice.

62 Cases of Male Organ Disappearance Reported

The Commissioner of Police also addressed the recent wave of cases involving the alleged disappearance of male organs in the FCT. Since the first reported case in Gwagwalada on September 21, a total of 62 cases have been reported.

In response to these disturbing incidents, 51 individuals have been charged to court on charges of giving false information and inciting public disturbance related to male organ disappearance.

CP Haruna Garba reassured FCT residents of his commitment and willingness to collaborate with the community in the fight against crime. The police remain steadfast in their determination to eliminate all forms of criminal activity in the territory.
