Residents of Nasarawa West Senatorial District Warn Against Using the Judiciary to Override Their Votes

Residents of the Nasarawa West Senatorial District have issued a stern warning to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate in the recent governorship election, David Ombugadu, against using the judiciary to subvert the will of the people.

The senatorial district, encompassing Keffi, Karu, Kokona, Nasarawa, and Toto local governments, came together in Keffi on Friday to express their dissatisfaction with the recent ruling by the state’s governorship election petition tribunal, which ousted Governor Abdullahi Sule from office.

Expressing their support for Governor Sule, the residents took to the streets with placards conveying their surprise and discontent with the tribunal’s decision.

Some of the placards bore messages such as “We unequivocally voted for Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule” and “Let it be known that no one should dare use the judiciary to undermine our democratic choice.”

The residents called on the Court of Appeal to review and rectify what they perceive as an unjust ruling, thereby reinstating the rightful mandate of the incumbent governor.

In response to the situation, Prince Attajiri, the Western Coordinator, alongside five executive local government chairmen, commissioners, heads of government agencies, political appointees, party leaders, interest groups, and stakeholders, appealed for calm and urged support for Governor Sule.
