Kwankwaso Advises Couples at Kano Mass Wedding to Avoid Checking Spouses’ Phones

In a reception organized by the State Government for the 1,800 couples participating in the mass wedding scheme, former governor of Kano State and national leader of NNPP, Rabi’u Kwankwaso, cautioned against the habit of checking spouses’ phones. Kwankwaso emphasized that this behavior is one of the major causes of marriage breakups and urged couples to avoid anything that could lead to crisis.

The event, held at the Open Theatre in Kano Government House, witnessed the political commitment of Governor Abba Yusuf, who made the mass wedding exercise a reality. Kwankwaso commended the administration for not only sponsoring over 600 students to universities abroad with over N700 million but also for delivering mass-oriented projects. He called on the people of Kano State to support Yusuf’s administration.

The beneficiaries of the mass wedding were carefully selected from the 44 local government areas and 484 wards of the state, with at least 30 couples selected from each local government area. The state government took full responsibility for these marriages, including the payment of dowries, provision of furniture, wedding food stuff, and a grant of N20,000 for the brides to start small-scale businesses from the comfort of their matrimonial houses.

During the reception, Kwankwaso urged the couples to live peacefully, respecting the teachings of Islam. He stated, “But, I have one single advice for you; that is checking spouses’ phones. Don’t peep into your spouses’ phones as that is the major cause of marriage breakup these days.”

Additionally, Sheikh Aminu Daurawa, the Commander General of Kano Hisbah Board, offered prayers for the couples to enjoy enduring marital bliss. In his address, he advised the couples to fear God in their dealings with one another.

The mass wedding scheme in Kano has been highly transparent and commendable, as demonstrated by the due and meticulous process followed. Out of the 1,800 couples, the wedding of 264 was suspended due to their testing positive for certain ailments. However, after undergoing medical treatment, a new date will be announced for their wedding.

As the event concluded successfully, the mass wedding brought joy to the hearts of many couples in Kano, and serves as an exemplary initiative to strengthen families and promote communal harmony.
