The Atiku Media Office has responded to allegations made by the Presidency and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) regarding a forgery scandal, dismissing them as an attempt to divert attention from the accusations against President Bola Tinubu.
A Calculated Move
In a statement released on Sunday, Paul Ibe, the Media Adviser to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, urged Tinubu and his team to refrain from drawing comparisons between the President and Atiku.
Clearing the Air
Ibe emphasized that all the names Atiku bears are traceable to his family lineage, debunking claims of forgery made by Bola A. Tinubu.
Ibe pointed out, “Contrary to Bola A. Tinubu’s forgery allegations against Atiku, it is a matter of public record that Atiku Abubakar’s name change from Siddiq Abubakar to Atiku Abubakar is well-documented in an affidavit dated 18th August 1973, a document that spans over 50 years—coincidentally as old as Tinubu’s history of forgeries and lies.”
Tinubu’s Alleged Deceptions
Ibe further accused Tinubu of fabricating and misleading about various aspects of his life, including his lineage, name, date of birth, educational background, certificates, and work experience.
Ibe added, “The exposure of Tinubu’s records at Chicago State University and the court-ordered deposition in the United States is just the tip of the iceberg.”
An Attempt to Deflect
Ibe stated, “Bola A. Tinubu’s attempt to involve Atiku Abubakar in his web of forgery should be viewed for what it really is: an effort to diminish the serious allegations of forgery he himself is facing.”
Impersonation Claims
Ibe claimed that evidence had been found suggesting that Tinubu gained admission to the university through impersonation.
Ibe also pointed out, “Interestingly, handlers of Bola A. Tinubu added the middle name ‘Adekunle,’ which mysteriously appeared on his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate on October 6th, 2023, as recently documented on his Wikipedia page.
“This could be seen as yet another indication of a master forger at work,” Ibe concluded.
