In a development that has sparked widespread relief and joy, Mustapha Ali Shehu, the councillor who represents Assakio Ward in Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, has been released from captivity along with his brother. The daring abduction occurred on Sunday as Shehu and his brother were travelling along the Assakio-Obi Road.

Highly placed sources have confirmed that the abductors released Shehu and his brother on Monday, October 16. It is believed that their freedom was secured following the payment of an undisclosed ransom.
