Bauchi Assembly Urges Security Agencies to Unearth Killers of Vigilante Members

In a bid to bring justice to the victims of a recent attack, the Bauchi State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs has called on traditional and community leaders to collaborate with security agencies and assist in the identification and capture of the killers of local vigilantes.

During an ambush in Gamji village, Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State, suspected bandits mercilessly took the lives of nine members of the Yan Ba Beli local vigilante group last Sunday. This shocking incident has triggered a sense of urgency among the local authorities.

Honourable Bala Abdullahi Dan, Chairman of the House Committee, passionately expressed this urgency during a condolence visit to the families of the slain vigilantes. He emphasized the importance of a collective effort between the community and security agencies in bringing the perpetrators to justice.

In addition, the committee issued a stern warning to traditional rulers, urging them not to provide refuge for criminal elements by selling or allocating land to them. This precautionary measure aims to prevent the infiltration of criminal activities within local communities.

During the visit, Ibrahim Zubairu Mato, the caretaker chairman of Ningi Local Government Area, articulated his belief that this collaboration between the local council and the House of Assembly will strengthen unity and cooperation in addressing security challenges.
