FG Holds Spectacular Cultural Road Show to Celebrate Nigeria’s Rich Diversity

The Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy, in collaboration with key stakeholders in Abuja, mesmerized the audience on Wednesday with a captivating road show that showcased the extraordinary cultural tapestry of our nation.

The Director of Entertainment and Creative Services, Mrs Ugochi Nwosu, made this announcement during the commemoration of the 2023 World Culture Day, which centered around the theme “Embracing Cultural Diversity: Building bridges for a Harmonious World”.

The World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development applauds not only the exquisite coexistence of the world’s cultures, but also the indispensable role of intercultural dialogue in fostering peace and sustainable development.

Speaking about the event, Nwosu emphasized that the purpose of marking the 2023 World Culture Day was to raise awareness about the significance of culture in national development.

“We are also enlightening people on the immense potential of Nigeria’s culture and creative economy in nation-building,” she said.

“Today, we are proudly showcasing some of the bedazzling aspects of our culture, creative economy, and economic diversification. This sector has the power to boost our economy and generate employment opportunities for our teeming population.

“As you can see, the vibrant youths and diverse array of participants are united in showcasing the manifestation of our rich cultural diversity, which forms the bedrock of Nigeria’s strength.

“Moreover, this day serves as a reminder of the critical need for cultural dialogue. The fusion of culture and dialogue unleashes the true potential of our entire population.”

Miss Gold Ugoji from the Black Bones Theatre Company emphasized the urgent need for Nigerians to embrace cultural diversity in order to forge a stronger and more united nation.

She expressed her gratitude at being part of the road show, describing Nigeria as an incredibly blessed and culturally diverse nation.

“If we can fully harness the potential of the diversity that God has bestowed upon us, we will undoubtedly surpass every other country in the world,” Ugoji proclaimed with enthusiasm.

Emmanuel Danladi, who also participated in the road show, stressed that the event aimed to educate people about the vast cultural diversity that defines Nigeria.

“No matter your state, tribe, or ethnic group, wherever you come from, remember that we stand together as one. United, we possess immense strength and wield the power of this name, Nigeria,” Danladi passionately articulated.

Martha Patrick, another enthusiastic participant, believed that the road show would foster unity among Nigerians, irrespective of their cultural differences.

“I feel deeply elated and joyful. I pray that this remarkable event will go a long way in unifying Nigerians. Culture holds immense importance, bridging the gaps between us, regardless of our diverse backgrounds,” Patrick expressed with heartfelt emotion.

She added, “I implore Nigerian youths to take advantage of our rich culture. There are countless opportunities for economic prosperity that can be derived from our culture. It’s not just about unity and diversity, but also about reaping financial benefits.

“We can achieve this by showcasing our culture to the world, as there is a profound love for our culture abroad. Therefore, it is crucial for parents, leaders, and every individual to come together and enlighten our children and youth about the beauty of our culture.”
