The Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the United Kingdom government for their unwavering support and collaboration in various areas, including security, governance, and economic cooperation.
During a courtesy visit to the Ministry’s Headquarters in Abuja, the British High Commissioner and his team, led by High Commissioner Richard Montgomery, received the Minister’s gratitude.
Senaor Gaidam highlighted that the United Kingdom has consistently championed democracy, human rights, and the rule of law, serving as an inspiration to nations around the world, including Nigeria.
“The relationship between Nigeria and the United Kingdom is deeply rooted in historical ties and shared values,” emphasized the Minister.
He further stated, “Our nations have long been partners in progress, collaborating to promote peace, security, and economic development.”
Senator Gaidam showed his commitment to ensuring the safety and security of Nigeria, acknowledging that the visit symbolizes the significance of both nations in combating transnational crimes, terrorism, and other security challenges.
“We recognize the expertise and experience of the United Kingdom in these fields and eagerly look forward to discussions that will further enhance our cooperation,” he expressed.
The Minister extended his sincere gratitude to the British High Commissioner and his team for their visit, emphasizing that their presence further strengthens the deepening relationship between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
He reiterated that the discussions held during the visit will yield fruitful outcomes and pave the way for greater collaboration in addressing shared challenges.
Highlighting the importance of their relationship with the Ministry and other law enforcement agencies in Nigeria, British High Commissioner Richard Montgomery stated, “Both countries need to harness common knowledge and strengthen their relationship.”
He went on to express his respect for the Nigerian police who tirelessly serve at the community levels and front lines despite the challenging circumstances.
“We are standing ready to work closely with the current administration,” added Montgomery.
