In a recent address, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, advised the residents of Abuja to brace themselves for difficult choices ahead. As leaders deliberate on the best course of action, Wike emphasized the need for patience and understanding, assuring the public that these tough decisions will ultimately serve the greater good of the nation’s capital.
The minister delivered this message during a meeting with former FCT Senator, Philip Aduda, representing the Peoples Democratic Party, and Zakari Dobi, the All Progressives Congress candidate for the senatorial seat in the previous election.
“I implore the residents to remain patient as we navigate through these challenging times. It is crucial to remember that these decisions are not meant to be punitive, but rather to improve the state of the FCT,” stated Wike.
Furthermore, Wike revealed that President Bola Tinubu has given a directive for the construction of a minimum of 5km roads in each area council, a testament to the government’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure within the capital.
Since assuming office, Wike has taken bold measures to address illegal structures throughout the FCT. This included the demolition of numerous unlawfully built properties. Additionally, the minister expressed his intention to revoke undeveloped properties that fail to meet the specified timeframe.
