The Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, located in Oke Ado, Ibadan, is set to be handed over to the Oyo state government by the federal government, according to Sunday Dare, the former Minister of Youths and Sports Development. Dare, who also holds the title of Agba-Akin of Ogbomoso, revealed this information while accepting the prestigious “Lifetime Achievement” award during the Veterans Day event, which was part of the 2023 Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Oyo state council Press Week.
The ceremony took place at the NUJ Press Centre on Thursday.
Dare further emphasized that the process for transferring the stadium to the Oyo state government is currently in its final stages, and it is expected that the administration led by President Bola Tinubu will grant approval in the coming weeks.
