Otukpo Bank Robbery: Benue Government Assures Residents of Enhanced Security Measures

The Benue State Governor’s Special Adviser on Security, Retired Colonel Alex Igbaya, has provided reassurance to the residents of Benue State that the government has implemented adequate security measures to prevent a recurrence of the tragic bank robbery in Otukpo. The incident resulted in the loss of several lives and left numerous individuals in critical condition in hospitals.

Colonel Igbaya personally visited the locations affected by the incident, including the Otukpo Divisional Police Headquarters where four policemen, including the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), were killed. He expressed his deep regret and sadness regarding the unfortunate incident.

“I am here in Otukpo to assess the situation, and I commend the security agencies for their prompt response and bravery in confronting the criminals,” Colonel Igbaya stated. “Four suspects have been apprehended, while two were fatally injured during the exchange of gunfire with security forces. Regrettably, we lost four security personnel in the process.”

Colonel Igbaya delivered a stern warning, vowing that the new government will not tolerate any form of criminal activity within the state. The authorities are determined to maintain the safety and security of the residents.

Meanwhile, the Benue State Police Command has officially confirmed the deaths of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP John Adikwu, and three other police officers in the brutal bank robbery that unfolded in Otukpo.
