NYSC Harps On Effective Media Collaborations To Project Scheme

The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, has emphasized the importance of strategic collaborations with the media to enhance the positive image of the scheme at the grassroots level.

Brigadier General Ahmed made these remarks during a Media Management workshop for NYSC members, top management, and State coordinators in Abuja. The workshop focused on the theme of “leveraging on Media Organisations to deepen contributions of NYSC to National Development in the post-golden Jubilee Era.”

Highlighting the significance of media partnerships, Brigadier General Ahmed emphasized that the media provides a crucial platform for the NYSC to tell its own side of the story. He urged state coordinators to recognize their role as chief public relations officer of the scheme at the secretariat level, as their actions and decisions can immensely impact the reputation of the NYSC.

Mr. Eddy Megwa, the Director of Press and Public Relations, stated that this training aligns with the Director-General’s commitment to safeguarding the corporate image of the NYSC through robust engagement with the media. He emphasized that effective collaboration with the media is essential to counter negative criticisms fueled by subjective considerations and selfish interests.

Mr. Megwa also appealed to state coordinators to establish closer ties with their state Public Relations Officers to achieve more positive outcomes in media relations. He highlighted that coordinators play a crucial role as image-makers of the NYSC in the field and emphasized the necessity of maintaining cordial relationships with media houses in their respective states.

In conclusion, it is clear that the NYSC is taking proactive steps to ensure effective collaborations with the media to enhance its reputation and promote its contributions to national development.
