Ohanaeze Condemns Gumi’s Remarks, Labels Him Enemy of the State

The apex socio-cultural organization of the Igbo people, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has strongly criticized popular Islamic scholar, Ahmad Gumi, describing him as an enemy of the state.

In censuring Gumi, Ohanaeze expressed its disapproval of his derogatory remarks towards the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, whom he labeled as “satanic.”

Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the Factional Secretary-General of Ohanaeze, accused Gumi of attempting to incite conflict between Christians and Muslims with his inflammatory rhetoric.

Gumi’s call for the removal of Wike as FCT Minister came after the latter received an envoy from Israel and discussed potential collaborations in the realm of security.

The Islamic scholar went as far as deeming Wike as satanic and expressing his distrust in Christians when it comes to matters of national security.

Isiguzoro, while expressing his discontent, urged the relevant authorities to promptly address Gumi’s actions.

He asserted, “By labelling Minister Wike as ‘satanic and devilish’ for his unwavering efforts to combat insecurity, Sheikh Gumi has revealed himself as an enemy of the state.”

Furthermore, Isiguzoro denounced Gumi’s discriminatory statement, stressing that it amounts to a declaration of religious warfare against Christians.
