Imo Election: Peace Accord Signed by LP, PDP, and 3 Other Gubernatorial Candidates as Uzodinma Absent

Five gubernatorial candidates from various political parties in Imo State came together on Sunday to sign a peace accord. The signing ceremony was held before the Justice, Development, Peace and Caritas Commission, the Catholic Archdiocese of Owerri, the National Voter’s Drive Coalition, and the Imo Advocacy Group. The purpose of this accord is to ensure a credible and violence-free election during the upcoming Imo governorship election on November 11, 2023.

The candidates who signed the peace accord represent the Labour Party, the Peoples Democratic Party, the Accord Party, the Action Alliance, and the All Progressives Grand Alliance. They are Senator Athan Achonu, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, Chief Okere John Jude, Maj Gen Lincoln Ogunewe (retd), and Sir Anthony Ejiogu, respectively.

However, the incumbent governor of Imo State and All Progressives Alliance’s candidate, Hope Uzodinma, was noticeably absent from the signing ceremony.

The signing of the peace accord took place at the Assumpta Cathedral in Owerri, the capital of Imo State. This event serves as a platform for the gubernatorial candidates to share their manifestos, hopes, and aspirations with millions of Imolites who are eager to hear from them.
