Yobe Governor Offers Condolences as Boko Haram Strikes Customs Personnel in Geidam

The Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, expressed his condolences to the Nigerian Customs Service and the family of an officer who was tragically killed by suspected Boko Haram insurgents in Geidam on Saturday.

In a statement released on Sunday, Governor Buni’s spokesperson, Mamman Mohammed, conveyed the Governor’s sadness and described the attack on the Customs facility and the loss of the officer as both regrettable and unfortunate.

“It is truly disheartening that we are faced with this unfortunate incident at a time when we are experiencing relative peace throughout the state,” Governor Buni stated.

The Governor acknowledged the unwavering dedication of the security operatives in maintaining the security of lives and property in the state.

“However,” he added, “this unfortunate attack serves as a wake-up call for all of us to remain vigilant. We must not become complacent due to the peace we currently enjoy; we mustn’t be caught off guard.”

Speaking on behalf of the government and people of Yobe State, Governor Buni extended his sympathy and condolences to the Nigeria Customs Service, the Controller General, and the family of the deceased officer.

Furthermore, Governor Buni reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to collaborating with security operatives to enhance the prevailing peace in the state.

As a gesture of respect, Governor Buni prayed for the eternal repose of the late officer and for his family to find the strength to bear the irreparable loss.

The Governor also urged the citizens of Yobe State to consistently provide timely and valuable information to the government and security agencies about suspicious individuals and movements within their communities.
