The executive council chairman of Ebonyi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Mr. Chinedu Uburu, has expressed his deep dismay over the horrific murder of a school principal and two teachers by unidentified gunmen in Nkaleke community.

He also condemned the ongoing clashes between two rival cult groups, which have already claimed the lives of four young individuals.

Speaking to journalists in Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi State, Chairman Uburu reiterated his commitment to bringing the perpetrators of these heinous crimes to justice swiftly.

“This is a truly unfortunate incident, and in all my time as chairman of Ebonyi LGA, I have never witnessed such a gruesome act. My heartfelt condolences go out to the families of the victims. I want to assure everyone that we will not rest until the perpetrators face the full force of the law,” said Uburu.

He further added, “To achieve this, we have already deployed vigilantes in the affected areas. We are also closely collaborating with the police and other security agencies to restore peace, unity, and orderliness in the community.”

Turning his attention to the issue of cult clashes in the state, Chairman Uburu clarified, “The incidents of cult clashes originally began in the Nkwuagu area and not in Ebonyi LGA. However, security is a collective responsibility, and I have full confidence that the state security agencies are working tirelessly to curb this menace.”

With a strong appeal to the youth, Chairman Uburu urged them to steer clear of cultism, emphasizing that there are no benefits from involvement in such criminal activities. He questioned the sense in taking the life of a sibling over something as futile as cultism, stating, “What are you fighting for? Absolutely nothing.”

In his concluding remarks, Chairman Uburu implored the youth to engage in meaningful activities that would bring them self-development and growth, rather than wasting their potential in destructive pursuits like cultism.
