The new Director General of Voice of Nigeria, VON, Jubrin Ndace, has pledged to add value to the mandate of the organization in providing authoritative, constructive, and development stories on Nigeria, Africa, and the world.
The VON’s central mandates, as stipulated in its act, are to broadcast Nigeria’s viewpoint to the world, reflect the views of Nigeria as a federation, express the nation’s culture and affairs, and enhance Nigeria’s foreign policy and image. Furthermore, VON broadcasts in English, French, Arabic, Kiswahili, Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, and Fulfude, ensuring global reception of its content.
Upon assuming office, Mr. Ndace expressed his dedication to take VON to new heights and emphasized his role in facilitating progress. He expressed immense gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, for trusting in his abilities and granting him the opportunity to serve in this capacity. Mr. Ndace vowed never to betray the confidence placed in him.
In line with President Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, Mr. Ndace aims to contribute to the creation of a vibrant ecosystem of digital enterprises that will drive economic growth and job creation. He believes that VON, as the voice of Nigeria, plays a pivotal role in conveying the nation’s narrative to the global audience and enhancing its development.
In his address, the former DG, Mr. Osita Okechukwu, expressed gratitude to the management and staff of VON for their unwavering support during his tenure. He highlighted his contributions to the organization, including acquiring a new corporate headquarters, initiating a housing scheme, and investing in digital media operations.
During a closed-door meeting with management staff, Mr. Ndace urged them to propose solutions to the challenges faced by the organization, assuring them that decisions would be made in the best interest of VON. He also embarked on an extensive tour of the Voice of Nigeria facility, reaffirming his commitment to prioritizing the well-being of the staff.
The new DG received a warm reception from friends and well-wishers across the country, including retired Brigadier General Usman Kuka Sheka. General Sheka described Mr. Ndace as a man of immense humility and hard work, expressing confidence in his ability to meet and exceed expectations.
With the appointment of Jubrin Ndace as the new Director General, VON looks set to further enhance its mandate and continue serving as a vital platform for broadcasting Nigeria’s voice to the global audience.
