Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr. Abdullahi Mustapha to serve as the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN).

The approval was made known in a statement signed on Monday by the President’s Spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale.

Dr. Mustapha served for over a decade in the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) with significant experience in the Energy and Space Technology sectors.

Dr. Mustapha most recently obtained his Doctorate degree in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Renewable Energy, followed by a Post-Doctoral Fellowship as a Research Associate in the School of Engineering at the University of Manchester.

President Tinubu expects that the newly appointed CEO of the ECN will play a significant role in advancing the administration’s efforts to broaden the country’s energy resources.

This, the Nigerian Leader said would be done in a coordinated manner across all government sectors with the ultimate goal of industrialising every region of the nation, while ensuring that every citizen is freed from the burdens of energy poverty.
