Kano Anti-Graft Agency Arrests Suspect Over N2.3bn Land Scam

The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) has made a significant breakthrough in its fight against corruption. The commission has apprehended a suspect named Musa Salihu Ahmed on allegations of engaging in a land scam worth a staggering N2.3 billion in various locations across the state. This arrest marks another milestone in the ongoing battle against corruption in Nigeria.

Addressing reporters in Kano on Tuesday, the Chairman of the commission, Muhuyi Magaji, shed light on the details of the arrest. According to Mr. Magaji, the suspect was captured at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport upon his arrival from Saudi Arabia. The commission acted swiftly to prevent the suspect from evading justice.

The suspect, operating under the company name “Lamash,” reportedly sold 632 government occupancy permits for residential plots at the exorbitant price of approximately N2.5 million each. These plots were illicitly sold to unsuspecting individuals in Challawa, a region located in the Kumbotso Local Government Area. Additionally, the suspect was involved in the sale of various residential plots in Dawanau, situated in the Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area.

The chairman expressed deep concern over the manner in which the suspect managed to obtain a vast number of residential plots during the previous administration. The PCACC is actively investigating this matter to determine the extent of collusion and corruption involved. The commission aims to bring all parties involved to justice and ensure that those affected by the land scam receive restitution.

Emphasizing the commitment of the commission towards promoting transparency and accountability, Mr. Magaji affirmed that the suspect would face appropriate legal consequences once the investigation is complete. This assurance sends a strong message to other potential wrongdoers that the law will not tolerate any form of corruption or fraudulent practices.

In conclusion, the arrest of Musa Salihu Ahmed is a significant stride towards eliminating corruption and ensuring justice for the victims of this land scam. The PCACC’s diligent efforts in uncovering this crime and bringing the perpetrator to justice demonstrate the commitment of the Kano State government to root out corruption and protect the interests of its citizens. Such actions are crucial for the development and progress of our beloved nation.
