In a dramatic turn of events, renowned cleric Prophet Adegoke Jeremiah, popularly known as the Billion Dollars Prophet, has taken legal action against well-known chef Damilola Adeparusi, famously known as Chef Dammy. The cleric is seeking a staggering sum of N22 million in damages, alleging defamation.
The recent barrage of accusations unfolded on social media, where Chef Dammy publicly called out Billion Dollars Prophet. She made it clear that she held him responsible for any harm that befalls her, citing his persistent threats, curses, and acts of bullying that had plagued her since her celebrated cook-a-thon.
Unwilling to let these allegations slide, Prophet Adegoke Jeremiah promptly enlisted the services of esteemed legal firm Bisayo Sule & Co Legal Practitioners. In a strongly worded letter, dated 23rd October 2023, Prophet Adegoke demanded not only a retraction of the defamatory statement on social media but also its publication in two prominent national dailies as well. Further to this, the letter specified the payment of N22 million as compensation for the damage inflicted on his reputation.
The letter stated, “Considering the immeasurable harm you have caused to the untarnished image of our client, we insist on an immediate retraction of your libelous statement across all social media platforms, including but not limited to your Instagram page, as well as its publication in two widely-read national dailies.
“Moreover, we demand a sum of N20,000,000:00 as compensation for the severe defamation our client has endured.
“It is imperative that you respond to this letter within seven (7) days from the date it is served upon you. Failure to comply within the stipulated timeframe will leave us with no option but to seek legal redress in a court of law.”
