Delta State Police Command Foils Crimes, Recovers Arms and Explosive Devices

The Delta State Police Command has made significant strides in combating crime and ensuring the safety and security of the people. Over the months of September and October 2023, the command has recovered various arms, ammunition, and explosive devices. These recoveries were made during routine patrolling, rescue operations, and interventions to thwart kidnappings and armed robberies.

Mr. Bright Edafe, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Delta State command, emphasized the commitment of the police to provide a secure and peaceful environment throughout the rest of the year. He stated, “In line with the recent directive of the Acting Inspector General of Police, IGP Olukayode Egbetoken, the Commissioner for Police, Mr. Wale Abass, assures the people of our unwavering commitment to eradicate crime in the state.”

The recent recoveries include one AK-47 rifle, two magazines, and forty-one rounds of 7.62MM ammunition. These were seized during a raid on the hideout of gang members commonly known as cultists. Additionally, during a stop and search operation, a patrol team intercepted a Toyota Corolla Vehicle and recovered one cut-to-size single barrel gun, one cut-to-size double barrel gun, one single barrel gun, one machete, and a sack containing substances suspected to be crystal meth (ICE), cocaine, and thirteen wraps of Indian hemp.

The Delta State Police Commissioner, Mr. Wale Abass, reiterates the command’s determination to detect and apprehend criminal elements. He assures the public of increased operations to bring unrepentant criminals to justice during this period.

While addressing the residents, particularly the youths, the Police Commissioner warns against jungle justice and urges them to rely on constituted law enforcement agencies in the pursuit of justice. He sternly adds that anyone inciting mob action against a citizen will face the full wrath of the law.

The Delta State Police Command’s relentless efforts to maintain law and order and rid the state of criminal activities are commendable. The command’s dedication and vigilance contribute significantly to creating a safer environment for all residents.
