Nigerian Leader Appoints Two Chief Executive Officers in the Blue Economy Sector

President Bola Tinubu has recently announced the appointment of two highly capable Chief Executive Officers to head prominent agencies under the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy.

The appointments were made based on the recommendations put forth by the Minister of the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola.

Munirudeen Oyebamiji, a former Commissioner for Finance in Osun State, has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA).

Oyebamiji, an Economist with over 28 years of industry experience, holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration and Business Administration. Prior to entering the public service, he successfully revived the Osun State Investment Company Limited and later served as the Osun State Commissioner of Finance for a remarkable eight years.

Akutah Ukeyima, a Law graduate with a Master’s degree in Public International Law from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, has also been nominated by President Tinubu to assume the position of Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC).

Mr. Ukeyima most recently held the position of Head of the Central Authority Unit, International Cooperation in Criminal Matters, Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation.

In a statement issued by the President’s Spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, President Bola Tinubu has urged the newly appointed CEOs to diligently implement the policies and programs of the Ministry, with the aim of significantly boosting the nation’s revenues and attracting increased investments.

President Tinubu’s strategic appointments mark a significant milestone in the development of the Marine and Blue Economy sector in Nigeria. It is expected that the expertise and experience of the appointed CEOs will contribute to the sector’s growth and success.
