The Nigeria National League (NNL) has recently made an announcement, stating the postponement of the kick-off date for the highly anticipated 2023/2024 league season. Originally scheduled to commence on Saturday, October 28, the NNL has decided to delay the start to allow clubs sufficient time to finalize their registration for the upcoming season.
This decision comes in light of the challenges faced by many teams in meeting the October 25 registration deadline, primarily due to the current economic situation in the country. Understanding the difficulties encountered by clubs, the NNL board arrived at this conclusion.
In a statement released by the NNL, they expressed their regrets regarding the postponement and assured teams that a new date would be communicated as soon as the registration process is completed. The original plan was for the season to kick-off in Uyo, the capital city of Akwa Ibom State.
It is now advised that clubs conclude their registration by November 3, 2023. Once the registration process is finalized, the NNL board will formally announce the new kick-off date for the league.
However, teams are strictly warned that failure to meet the revised registration deadline will result in their non-participation in the upcoming season.
