The National Population Commission (NPC) has pledged its unwavering commitment to supporting all activities aimed at meeting the humanitarian needs of vulnerable individuals and communities in Nigeria. This commitment was reiterated by the NPC Chairman, Mr. Nasir Isa Kwarra, during the installation and investiture ceremony of the 22nd President of the Lions Club and its board members, which took place in Abuja.
In his address, Mr. Nasir Isa Kwarra emphasized the importance of cultivating stronger friendships and fostering innovation and excellence in all human endeavors. He acknowledged the significant role played by the Lions Club in coordinating affairs related to the well-being of Nigerians and expressed the NPC’s willingness to support the club in its endeavors. Mr. Kwarra highlighted the vital role of data collation in planning for the benefit of the Nigerian people, be it in the areas of education, health, or infrastructure. He commended the club for its contributions, particularly in the field of healthcare, where they have established a diagnostic center for diabetes and cancer. He concluded by affirming the NPC’s commitment to supporting the Lions Club in meeting their humanitarian goals.
The outgoing President of the Lions Club, Dooshima Tsumba, expressed her gratitude for the support she received from club members during her tenure. She reflected on the accomplishments and impactful projects undertaken by the club, all of which were aimed at making a positive difference in the lives of those they served. Projects such as the Continues Quality Improvement project, youth employment program, and raising awareness about pediatric cancer were highlighted as examples of the club’s dedication to serving their community.
During his acceptance speech, the newly inaugurated 22nd President of Lion’s Club Wuse, Abuja, Mr. Mohammed Abubakar, called for support from all members and aspiring members in their pursuit of more humanitarian services. He outlined his plans, which included equipping the diabetic hospital built by the club in Gwarimpa General Hospital and establishing an eye clinic in a recognized hospital. Mr. Abubakar stressed the importance of collective effort and encouraged members to contribute their time, resources, and talents to these projects. He expressed his confidence in his team of vice presidents to assist him in achieving their goals.
Moving forward, the District Governor of District 404 A2 Nigeria, Mr. Charles Itu, urged the new board members to approach their roles with dedicated passion. He recognized their commitment to making a positive impact in their communities and emphasized the importance of unity and teamwork. Mr. Itu reminded them that their efforts, combined with the support of fellow members, would bring about positive change not only within their club but also worldwide. He encouraged them to embrace challenges and remain steadfast in their mission to create a brighter future for the district. Mr. Itu called on all Lions Club members to join hands in meeting the needs of the vulnerable, emphasizing the urgency of their humanitarian service projects.
