Benue State University Teaching Hospital Assumes Control of Muhammadu Buhari Hospital in Makurdi

The Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH) will now be taking over the administration of the Muhammadu Buhari Mother and Child Hospital in Makurdi.

During an interactive session with journalists in Makurdi on Friday, Dr Stephen Hwande, the Chief Medical Director of BSUTH, announced that the objective behind this decision is to establish the hospital as the premier healthcare provider in the state, with services commencing on November 1st.

Dr Hwande emphasized that the hospital will be staffed by highly skilled healthcare professionals and equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, ensuring the delivery of top-notch medical care in the region.

The BSUTH takeover is a necessary step to eliminate the need for individuals to travel outside of the state for their medical needs, Dr Hwande stated.

He further revealed that starting from March of next year, the Muhammadu Buhari Mother and Child Hospital will also be offering in-vitro fertilization (IVF) services and treatment for infertility cases.

As part of their commitment to improving access to quality healthcare, Dr Hwande mentioned that antenatal patients and children under the age of five will receive free medical cards until the end of the year.
