Iyalode of Yorubaland Alaba Lawson is dead

The Iyalode of Yoruba land, Alaba Lawson, has passed on.

The Abeokuta socialite and Proprietress of Lawson Group of Schools died on Saturday, according to information gathered by our correspondent.

Details of her death are still sketchy as at the time of filing this report.

Lawson, until her death, was also the Iyalode of Egbaland and past President of the Abeokuta Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ABEOCCIMA).

The Executive Secretary of ABEOCCIMA, AbdulRahman Maku, confirmed Lawson’s death on Saturday.

The statement reads partly, “We regret to announce the demise of NACCIMA past president & ABEOCCIMA Matron/Chairman, Board of Trustees, Iyalode Alaba Lawson, which occurred in the early hours of today Saturday, 28th October, 2023.”

Born on January 18, 1951 into the Jiboku family in the Ago-Oko area of Abeokuta, Lawson died at 72.
