The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HoSF), Folasade Yemi-Esan, has reiterated her commitment to establishing a framework for recognizing and rewarding civil servants who have demonstrated exceptional dedication in carrying out their duties. This underscores the government’s unwavering support for hardworking officers within the Civil Service.
During a recent ceremony, Mr. Isaac Anum, the Director of Bio Researches Technology at the Federal Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, was presented with a 2-bedroom semi-detached bungalow as the deserving winner of the 2023 Presidential Public Service Merit Award.
The fulfillment of this promise, made by Folasade Yemi-Esan, highlights the ongoing transformation and digitalization efforts being carried out in the Civil Service through the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2012-2025 (FCSSIP 25). These initiatives aim to elevate the service to a world-class level.
One of the key pillars of the plan is enhancing the value proposition of civil servants. The Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) is fully committed to implementing strategies that facilitate a conducive working environment, personal health and development, smooth career progression, affordable housing, job security, as well as providing both monetary and non-monetary rewards to diligent officers across all sectors.
Dr. Yemi-Esan further encouraged all civil servants to embrace healthy competition and strive for excellence in their respective ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs). This will qualify them to participate in the service-wide assessment for prestigious honors and awards. The race for the 2024 edition has already begun.
In his remarks, Olufemi Oloruntola, the Permanent Secretary, Service Policies and Strategies Office, commended the Head of Service for her renewed commitment to acknowledging the outstanding contributions of diligent civil servants. He also expressed gratitude for her efforts in securing partnerships with the private sector to ensure that deserving employees are duly rewarded.
Furthermore, Oloruntola emphasized the importance of recognizing the Head of Service’s dedication in transforming the Civil Service and noted that events like these showcase the government’s strong support for the welfare of its employees.
The Civil Service remains resolute in its commitment to promoting excellence and recognizing the tireless efforts of its officers. By implementing a robust recognition and reward system, the government aims to inspire greater dedication and drive, resulting in a more efficient and effective Civil Service.
