In an effort to uphold the values of Islam, the Muslim Community in Oyo State is calling on residents to promptly report any Islamic cleric or Mallam who engages in sharp practices contrary to the teachings of Islam. The community emphasizes the importance of bringing such individuals to the attention of the appropriate authorities for thorough investigation.
During a press conference held on Saturday, Alhaji Isiaq Kunle Sanni, Chairman of the community, addressed the recent arrest of three individuals found in possession of human parts in Ibadan. Sanni expressed the community’s commitment to closely monitor the case until the culprits are brought to justice.
The Chairman condemned the heinous act and highlighted the league of Imams and Alfas led by the Chief Imam of Ibadan land’s plan to establish a disciplinary committee. This committee will serve as a mechanism for reporting any Islamic cleric suspected of engaging in unlawful activities, ultimately leading to comprehensive investigations.
In his address, Sanni urged Muslims in the state to refrain from taking matters into their own hands and resorting to vigilantism.
He stated, “If anyone is spending money recklessly, report them. Before we accept anyone as a leader, we must thoroughly examine their background. We will diligently pursue this case until its conclusion—justice must prevail.”
Sanni emphasized the need for vigilance in ensuring that Mallams teaching Islamic knowledge to children adhere to the principles of Islam. The league of Imams and Alfas, under the leadership of Chief Imam Alhaji Abdulganiy Abubakri Agbotomokekere, plans to establish a disciplinary committee to investigate and punish any Mallam suspected of engaging in practices contrary to the Islamic culture, potentially leading to their expulsion from the league.
While appealing for caution, Sanni assured the public of their unwavering resolve to pursue the prosecution of these individuals involved in these nefarious acts.
