Adamawa Governorship Election Tribunal Dismisses Binani’s Petition, Confirms Fintiri’s Victory

The Adamawa State Governorship Election Tribunal, which convened in Yola, has made a significant decision regarding the petition brought forth by Senator Aishatu Dahiru Binani of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The tribunal has dismissed Binani’s petition, affirming the victory of Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a ruling delivered on Saturday, Justice Theodora Obi Uloho stated that the petitioners were unable to substantiate their claims of non-compliance with the Electoral Act 2022. Binani had lodged the petition on the grounds that the election did not adhere to the stipulations outlined in the electoral act.

As of now, the tribunal has dismissed Binani’s petition, thereby confirming Fintiri’s well-deserved win. Throughout the entire election, Fintiri garnered a total of 430,861 votes, while Binani secured 398,788 votes.

It is worth noting that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had previously declared Fintiri as the winner following the supplementary election held on April 18th.

This ruling by the Adamawa Governorship Election Tribunal marks an important milestone in the state’s political landscape. The decision not only upholds the outcome of the election but also highlights the adherence to democratic principles and the rule of law.

As the dust settles and the political arena begins to shift focus onto upcoming events, one cannot help but reflect on the significance of this ruling. It is a testament to the strength of Nigeria’s democratic institutions and serves as a reminder of the importance of fair and transparent electoral processes.

Moving forward, it is hoped that this ruling will create an atmosphere of unity and cooperation in Adamawa State. It is imperative for all political actors to put aside their differences and work towards the betterment of the state, prioritizing the welfare and development of its citizens above all else.

In conclusion, the Adamawa Governorship Election Tribunal has dismissed Binani’s petition, confirming Fintiri’s victory and cementing his position as the elected leader of the state. This ruling underscores the importance of upholding democratic principles and reinforces the faith of the Nigerian people in their electoral system.
