Ilkay Gundogan, the Barcelona midfielder, has publicly expressed his disappointment with his teammates, accusing them of lacking passion following their recent defeat to Real Madrid in the Clasico.
On Saturday, Real Madrid made a stunning comeback, overturning a one-goal deficit to secure a 2-1 victory over Barcelona.
Gundogan, who scored an early goal in the match, saw his efforts go in vain as Jude Bellingham netted two goals in the second half to give Real Madrid the win.
Having witnessed the team’s reaction in the dressing room after the game, Gundogan shared his thoughts, “I come from the dressing room, and obviously people are disappointed after such a monumental game. It was an important match with an unthinkable result.”
Voicing his concerns, Gundogan added, “I would like to see more anger, more disappointment. I didn’t come here to lose these kinds of games or to allow these gaps to open up. As a senior player, I have a responsibility to prevent these things from happening to the team. We need to show more resilience.”
Currently, Barcelona sits four points behind Real Madrid after 11 games in La Liga.
