Urgent Appeals Made for the Safe Return of Tanzanian Nationals Allegedly Detained by Hamas

There are growing concerns for the safety and wellbeing of two Tanzanian citizens, Joshua Loitu Mollel and Clemence Felix Mtenga, who have reportedly been held captive by Hamas since the attack near the Gaza border on October 7, according to reports by the BBC.

Mollel and Mtenga were participating in an agricultural internship program in Israel when they were kidnapped by Hamas militants. The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs has made a heartfelt plea for their quick and secure return. To accompany their appeal, the ministry has also shared photographs of the two individuals and has requested prayers for their safe and immediate release.

In an exclusive interview with the BBC, Joshua’s father expressed the family’s distress and anxiety over their son’s abduction. He revealed that Israel’s ambassador to Tanzania personally reached out to their family, assuring them that the government is actively and diligently pursuing all possible avenues to secure Joshua’s safe return.

It has also come to light that among the hostages being held by Hamas, there is an unidentified South African national. The circumstances surrounding their capture remain unclear at this time.

The safety and well-being of Mollel, Mtenga, and all individuals held captive by Hamas is of utmost concern. Their families and governments are working tirelessly to ensure their swift and secure release. Let us hope that their ordeal comes to an end soon, as they anxiously await their safe return home.
