President Bola Tinubu has expressed unwavering confidence in his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila.
Speaking before the commencement of this week’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting inside the Council Chambers at the State House, President Tinubu set the ground rules for attendance while addressing issues he had observed and been uncomfortable with, such as unauthorized access to the Council Chambers.
“First of all, let me reiterate the fact that there are numerous stories circulating about what is happening. I’ve always maintained that I’m fallible and mistakes are bound to be made. It is essential for these mistakes to be pointed out and corrected.
“Perfection belongs to God Almighty. I have absolute confidence in the integrity of my Chief of Staff. I implore all campaigns of calumny and insinuations to cease. The blame stops here.
“If I make a mistake, I am ready to acknowledge it. We are all committed to fighting corruption and enforcing the law together with you,” he declared.
Meanwhile, the Council observed a minute of silence in honor of the late Adamu Fika, a former member of FEC and one-time Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, who passed away last week at the age of 90.
Presently, the Council is in progress with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume; the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan; the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and virtually all the ministers in attendance.
