Minister Warns Nigerians about Fake Humanitarian, Poverty Alleviation Trust Fund Registration Portal

Dr Betta Edu, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, has issued a warning to Nigerians regarding a fraudulent online portal. This portal, known as the “FG Humanitarian and Poverty Alleviation Trust Fund Registration Portal,” has been created by unscrupulous individuals with the sole purpose of defrauding unsuspecting members of the public.

In a statement released in Abuja on Tuesday, Minister Edu clarified that this portal is entirely fake and does not originate from the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation or any other government agency. She emphasized that there will never be a legitimate portal from the ministry or its partners through which individuals can apply to access funds from the humanitarian and poverty alleviation trust fund.

She urged the general public to disregard any links or information associated with this fraudulent portal, as it is not affiliated with the government in any way. Minister Edu emphasized that it is crucial for Nigerians to remain vigilant and avoid falling victim to scams.

The existence of this fake portal highlights the need for increased awareness and cybersecurity measures to protect the Nigerian population against online fraud. Scammers continue to employ sophisticated tactics, exploiting the vulnerabilities of unsuspecting individuals. It is essential for everyone to be cautious when sharing personal information online and to verify the authenticity of websites and platforms before engaging with them.

The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation is committed to combating fraud and ensuring the safety and security of Nigerians. They encourage individuals to report any fraudulent activities or suspected scams to the appropriate authorities.

This warning serves as a reminder that in this digital age, it is crucial for individuals to exercise caution and stay informed to avoid falling victim to scams. By being vigilant and aware, Nigerians can protect themselves and their finances from online fraudsters.
