Engage Students in Extracurricular Activities to Unleash Hidden Talents, Urges Education Expert

An education expert has made a passionate appeal to schools and stakeholders in the Nigerian education sector to explore methods of involving young individuals in extracurricular activities. Olumide Eso, the Head of Schools at Bodija International Schools in Ibadan, emphasized the significance of these activities in early talent discovery.

Eso unequivocally stated that organizing extracurricular activities is vital for unearthing the untapped potential in every child, while also acting as a deterrent against social vices. By providing opportunities for students to engage in such activities, schools can foster a focused and well-rounded educational experience.

During the opening ceremony of the three-day Justice Kayode Edo football tournament, Eso expressed his belief in the transformative power of extracurricular engagement. He affirmed, “Our aim is to unveil the hidden talents of our children and keep them both physically fit and mentally focused. We want to extract the very best from every individual.”

Eso stressed that education encompasses more than just academics. Drawing attention to the successful footballers who have emerged from similar developmental processes, Eso highlighted the lasting impact that extracurricular activities can have on shaping a child’s future.

“We strongly encourage schools to incorporate these types of extracurricular activities into their curriculum. By doing so, not only will students remain physically active, but they will also have the opportunity to discover their latent talents,” Eso urged.
