In a move to ensure accountability and measure the performance of Ministers and other top government officials, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has set up a Result Delivery Unit. This announcement was made during the Cabinet Retreat held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
President Tinubu emphasized the importance of objectively assessing the progress of his administration and aligning it with the objectives of the Renewed Hope Agenda. To achieve this, all Ministers, Presidential Aides, Permanent Secretaries, and other key officials will sign a bond of understanding.
Heading the Result Delivery Unit is Hadiza Bala Usman, a young and dynamic leader. President Tinubu expressed his confidence in her ability to drive effective delivery and urged those with complaints to approach him directly. The President emphasized that achieving results is vital for the millions of Nigerians who rely on the government.
Additionally, President Tinubu appointed his Special Adviser on Policy Coordination, Hadiza Bala Usman, to head the Result Delivery Unit. He called on all Ministers and key officials to work collaboratively towards realizing the goals of the administration.
During the retreat, a bond of understanding will be signed between the President, Ministers, and Permanent Secretaries. President Tinubu assured diligent performers that they need not fear, but for those who do not meet objectives, their performance will be reviewed. He emphasized his commitment to grant a significant level of autonomy, provided that officials demonstrate intellectual curiosity by seeking clarity on assigned tasks.
President Tinubu reiterated that no one operates in isolation. The ultimate responsibility lies with the government officials to serve the interests of the people. He emphasized that Nigeria’s population of over 200 million should be seen as an asset and not a liability. Harnessing the strength of the nation’s population should be a top priority to drive progress in the country.
As President Tinubu sets up this Result Delivery Unit, it is clear that transparency and accountability are fundamental principles guiding his administration.
