The National President of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners (NUP), Mr Godwin Abumisi, has expressed his appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for reappointing Dr Chioma Ejikeme as the Executive Secretary of the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD).
In a statement released in Abuja, Abumisi described the appointment as well-deserved.
He stated, “As the umbrella body of pensioners in Nigeria, the NUP is pleased that the recent reappointment was purely based on merit.”
Abumisi credited Ejikeme for rejuvenating the hopes of pensioners across the country through her leadership style and professionalism over the past four years.
He continued, “This remarkable reappointment is indeed well-deserved and brings joy to the hearts of over two hundred and fifty thousand (250,000) pensioners under the management and care of PTAD.”
“Considering her diligent work in ensuring the timely payment of our monthly pensions and attentiveness to various challenging issues, it is clear that this reappointment is justified,” Abumisi added.
Clearing the air on any potential protests against her reappointment, Abumisi stated, “I want to make it clear that the NUP fully supports her reappointment, and any reports suggesting otherwise are the result of baseless allegations from individuals who are obviously enemies of Nigerian pensioners.”
“I hereby urge all NUP members to rally behind the Executive Secretary to ensure the continuation of her commendable efforts in restoring the dignity of Nigerian pensioners,” he concluded.
