Abia Governor Alex Otti Operates from Private Residence to Cut Costs

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has disclosed his reasons for choosing to run the affairs of the state from his private residence in Isiala Ngwa South, rather than the government house in Umuahia. According to Otti, this move is primarily aimed at saving costs and efficiently managing resources.

During a visit by the world leadership of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, led by the General Conference President, Pastor Ted Wilson, Governor Otti reiterated his administration’s commitment to assisting indigent members of society through scholarships and other forms of sponsorship. The visit was in commemoration of the church’s centenary anniversary celebration.

Explaining his decision to operate from his hometown, Nvosi, Governor Otti emphasized the need to address pressing issues such as infrastructural decay, healthcare, and education before focusing on the governor’s office. He stated that managing the cost of governance is crucial for good governance, as it ensures that limited resources are directed towards the welfare of the people.

“We found that we were going to spend a whole lot of money fixing the Governor’s Office when we came into office in May. Luckily, we have facilities at home that can accommodate our government operations. We will continue to operate from here until we have resolved numerous challenges, including infrastructural decay, particularly in Aba, and other hygiene problems in the state,” Otti stated.

Governor Otti’s approach prioritizes the urgent needs of the people over superficial improvements. By choosing to address critical issues first, he aims to create lasting change and improve the lives of Abia State residents.

The General Conference President, Pastor Ted Wilson, commended Governor Otti for his dedication to the state and acknowledged the significance of the visit, which marked the centenary celebration of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Nigeria. Pastor Wilson also encouraged individuals to support the government in providing quality education, healthcare services, and actively participating in community development.

The centenary celebration serves as an opportunity to reflect on the church’s journey and the guidance it has received from God throughout the West and Central African region.

Governor Otti’s decision to operate from his private residence showcases his commitment to efficient resource management and cost-saving measures. With a focus on addressing crucial challenges facing Abia State, he aims to foster development and improve the well-being of its residents.
