‘Complete mess’ – Alan Shearer lambastes Manchester United

In a scathing assessment, Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has unleashed his criticism on Manchester United, labeling them as ‘a complete mess’ following their 3-0 loss to the Magpies in the Carabao Cup clash on Wednesday.

Goals from Miguel Almiron, Lewis Hall, and Joe Willock sealed Newcastle’s victory over the struggling Red Devils at Old Trafford.

This defeat leaves Manchester United eliminated from the Carabao Cup and languishing in a disheartening eighth position in the Premier League, plagued by a woeful start to the season.

Newcastle’s triumphant display against Manchester United serves as sweet revenge for manager Eddie Howe’s side, who had suffered a defeat to Erik ten Hag’s team in last season’s Carabao Cup final.

Alan Shearer took to his official X account on Twitter to express his admiration for Newcastle’s dominant performance, stating, “Total domination from the Toon. Magnificent from start to finish from every single player.”

He then singled out the Manchester United team, emphasizing their lack of cohesion and unity with the scathing remark, “One team playing for the badge, the other team a complete mess. TOONTOON.”

Manchester United will now be seeking redemption as they look to bounce back in their upcoming Premier League fixture against Fulham on Saturday.
