Price Hike Leaves Nigerians Disgruntled as DSTV Increases Subscription Fees Again in 2023

In a move that has added to the financial burdens of many Nigerians, Multichoice, the parent company of DSTV Nigeria, has once again raised subscription fees, marking an increase of at least 16 percent, depending on the bouquet.

On Friday, subscribers received a notice from DSTV informing them of the price increment, which will take effect from Monday, 6th November 2023.

For instance, the subscription fee for DSTV compact or GOTV Supa+ has risen from ₦10,500 to ₦12,500.

The DSTV Premium package price has been increased from ₦24,500 to ₦29,500, while Compact+ has gone up from ₦16,600 to ₦19,800. Confam subscribers will now pay ₦7,400 instead of ₦6,200, and Yanga will cost ₦4,200, up from ₦3,500.

Within the GOTV segment, the Supa bouquet has seen a hike from ₦6,400 to ₦7,600. Max subscription now stands at ₦5,700, up from ₦4,850, Jolli package has increased to ₦3,950 from ₦3,300, and Jinja subscribers will now pay ₦2,700, up from ₦2,250.

This marks the second time this year that the company has raised prices, further adding to the financial strain on subscribers.

In March, the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) threatened to take action against DSTV over the earlier price increment, but no concrete steps were taken.
