Nigerian Army, Petroleum Regulatory Agency Partner to Ensure Successful Operations in the North East

The Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) North East has been assured of the cooperation of the military to ensure smooth operations in the North East.

The Theatre Commander, Joint Task Force (JTF) North East Operation HADIN KAI Major General Gold Chibuisi, gave the assurance when the Regional Coordinator, NMDPRA Engineer Yusuf Shehu, led a delegation of the regulatory body on a courtesy visit to the Headquarters Theatre Command, Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri.

General Chibuisi, who described the visit as timely and educative, reiterated that the command will work closely with the body, especially in the areas of providing adequate security, to enhance its smooth operations. He urged the NMDPRA to continue to do its best in its efforts to create product stability.

Earlier, the Regional Coordinator of NMDPRA, Engineer Shehu, said the purpose of the visit was to acquaint himself with the headquarters and to also appreciate the commander for the sacrifices and efforts of the military, which have improved the security situation in the North East. He urged him to sustain the momentum.

Engineer Shehu also disclosed that the body was responsible for the control and regulation of products and the issuance of licences to petrol stations and gas plants. He pointed out that collaboration with the military was eminent, noting that it would enable them to successfully achieve their mandate.

The visit had in attendance the General Officer Commanding 7 Division Nigerian Army/Commander Sector 1 JTF North East Operation HADIN KAI Maj Gen PP Malla, Principal Staff Officers of the Theatre Command, as well as officials of NMDPRA. The visit featured the signing of visitor’s books, a presentation of souvenirs, and a group photograph.
