Senior Police Officers Struggle with Retirement, Says Police Service Commission Chairman

The Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), Dr. Solomon Arase, expressed his condolences to the friends and family of the late CP Frank Odita, former Force Public Relations Officer, who was laid to rest on Friday. In a statement released by the Commission’s Public Relations Officer, Ikechukwu Ani, Dr. Arase expressed his regret over the challenging situation faced by retired police officers, particularly those in senior ranks, who struggle to take care of themselves after retirement. He emphasized that this unfavorable circumstance negatively impacts the image of the Nigeria Police Force.

Dr. Arase highlighted the vast potential and valuable contributions that retired police officers still have to offer the nation. He stressed the importance of providing them with opportunities to remain productively engaged for their own benefit and that of the nation. Furthermore, he lauded the exemplary qualities of CP Frank Odita, describing him as a dedicated police officer who excelled in the field of public relations.

The PSC Chairman also expressed his gratitude to the fraternity of retired police officers who offered assistance during his own health challenges. He emphasized that it is high time the welfare of retired police officers is prioritized and improved, acknowledging their immense contributions to the nation.

While offering his heartfelt prayers, Dr. Arase hoped that CP Frank Odita’s family and friends would find the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
