The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, recently sent a strong message to chief executives of agencies under his ministry, emphasizing the need for exceptional performance and pledging to protect his position with the support of industry stakeholders.
Addressing stakeholders during a one-day meeting in Lagos, Keyamo emphasized the importance of all hands being on deck to prevent his possible dismissal by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Keyamo shared insights from a three-day retreat attended by all ministers, including himself and the President. A performance bond was signed during the retreat, with Keyamo personally signing his own bond the previous day. He emphasized that support from the CEOs was crucial for him to avoid being sacked in the coming months.
“On this side, it’s either I get sacked or they get sacked. It’s a race to survival. That’s the message I have conveyed to all my CEOs – someone must be the sacrificial lamb, but before I go down, I will ensure that you go down,” Keyamo asserted.
The recent statement from Keyamo follows President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s signing of the performance bond with ministers during the cabinet retreat.
