The Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, has shed light on the motives behind his frequent trips outside the state. According to him, these journeys are essential in his quest to seek financial and material assistance to address the lingering security and socioeconomic challenges facing the state.
During an interview with reporters from Farin Wata TV station in Gusau, the state capital, Governor Lawal disclosed that his travels have played a crucial role in rebuilding the confidence of foreign and local partners who had withdrawn their support due to rampant corruption among public officials.
Lawal emphasized that the restored confidence in the state government has paved the way for the resumption of vital projects, particularly in the areas of education and healthcare. With the assistance of foreign agencies, the state government has received donations of medical equipment and medication to revive the collapsed healthcare sector.
Addressing the security challenges that have plagued the entire state, Governor Lawal revealed that the Community Protection Guards, recruited by the government, are undergoing training by security agencies to empower them in fulfilling their responsibilities effectively. These guards will be adequately armed and equipped with the necessary logistical support to enhance their operational capabilities.
Expressing his deep concern regarding the endemic levels of corruption within the state, Governor Lawal vowed to combat this menace by exposing perpetrators and taking appropriate measures to recover embezzled public funds. He issued a solemn warning to all public officials, cautioning them to abstain from engaging in any form of corrupt practices or face removal from office.
Through his relentless efforts and strategic collaborations, Governor Dauda Lawal strives to lead Zamfara State towards a brighter future, free from the shackles of corruption and fortified against security and socioeconomic setbacks.
