In a major development for Bauchi State, Governor Bala Mohammed has officially commenced the construction of the 11-kilometer GSS Ningi-Gudduba road, a dual carriageway project that is set to cost over N10 billion. This significant project, which is seen as a gesture of gratitude for the support of the local community, will encompass a 7.3-meter carriageway along with 2-meter-wide shoulders. It is expected to be completed within eighteen months, bringing long-term benefits to the state.

The purpose of the dual carriageway is to connect the regions of Ningi and Gudduba, ultimately opening up the area to promote growth and development in Bauchi State. Governor Mohammed, speaking at the inauguration ceremony in Ningi, emphasized his unwavering commitment to the development of roads, acknowledging their crucial role in facilitating economic activities.

It is worth noting that the contract for this project was awarded due to its strategic importance as a gateway to the commercial city of Kano and other parts of northern Nigeria. Governor Mohammed also stressed that this initiative would contribute to the reduction of accidents, which often result in the loss of innocent lives and properties.

Addressing the crowd, the governor revealed that the mobilization fee of 30 percent has already been paid to enable the commencement of work on the project. Furthermore, he disclosed that the contract would be jointly supervised by a team of engineers from the State Ministry of Works and Transport and the Federal Ministry of Works.

Expressing regret over the previous neglect of the Ningi Emirate and central zone in terms of adequate road infrastructure, Governor Mohammed affirmed that his administration is determined to rectify these past deficiencies by prioritizing inclusivity, respect for the aspirations of all sectors, and job creation.

He stated, “There has been significant neglect of the Ningi Emirate and addressing these issues is not an easy task for any administration. However, as the Turaki Ningi, I am committed to doing my best.”

Continuing, he added, “From day one of our first tenure, we hit the ground running by awarding road projects to reputable contractors. This particular project in Ningi is a testament to our appreciation for the people of Ningi, who demonstrated unwavering support for the PDP by voting for me and other party members. In recognition of this, we are embarking on the dualisation of Ningi town.”

In their respective remarks, the State Commissioner for Works and Transport and the representative of the contracting firm outlined the crucial features of the project, including the 7.3-meter carriageway and 2-meter-wide shoulders.

The Chairman of the Local Government Caretaker Committee, Ibrahim Zubairu, expressed his gratitude to the governor for prioritizing this long-awaited project as part of his rural and urban development agenda. He assured the governor of the community’s commitment to reciprocating the gesture and taking forward his desired progress.

Indeed, with the commencement of this significant infrastructure project, the people of Bauchi State can look forward to improved connectivity, enhanced economic opportunities, and safer travel experiences. This dualisation of the Ningi-Gudduba road is a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to transform and develop the state’s transportation network for the benefit of all.
